Mercedes dropped quite the hint with regards to the 2021 F1 livery as they showcased a full render of W12 ahead of a proper launch.
In a surprise, Mercedes dropped the biggest teaser of its 2021 F1 livery late on Saturday evening, as it uploaded a side view render of W12. The German team revealed that the livery has been designed by Gorden Wagener, with full launch on Tuesday.
“We are excited to kick off the new F1 season! On March 2nd, 12:00 CET we will release our new race car 2021/W12 Mercedes with an amazing livery by Gorden Wagener. We are looking forward to you all joining the team this season,” said a small statement.
It looks like Mercedes is retaining black as its base colour from 2020 but they are adding a bit more of red/maroon of INEOS and also the red star for Niki Lauda. The change, though, is the return of silver on the engine cover with the fluorescent tinge.
The proper launch will take place on Tuesday as Mercedes mentioned. The first renders will be released at 10:30 GMT, with the live launch event to take place at 11:00 GMT, where both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will be present along with Toto Wolff.
