Chadwick sticks with Williams academy despite racing in Indy NXT

Jamie Chadwick, F1, Williams

Jamie Chadwick (GBR) Williams Racing Development Driver. Dutch Grand Prix, Saturday 3rd September 2022. Zandvoort, Netherlands.

Jamie Chadwick will continue to be part of Williams F1 academy in 2023 despite her racing in the US in Indy NXT series.

Having joined the Williams family in 2019 under former owners, Chadwick has extended her stay for the 2023 season in the driver academy. Even though she will be racing in the United States of America, the Brit will continue to be part of the F1 academy.

Having won the W Series multiple times, Chadwick couldn’t move up the ladder in FIA F3 which pushed her to move to America and sign with Andretti Autosport to race in IndyCar’s Indy NXT by Firestone Series (formerly Indy Lights) for the 2023 season.

“To be continuing my relationship with Williams is amazing; I’ve had their support since 2019,” said Chadwick. “Having the opportunity to immerse myself within the team and keep that Formula One dream alive is very important. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

At the same time, Sven Smeets added: “We’re very excited to have Jamie continuing as a core part of our Driver Academy at Williams Racing. She’s an incredibly talented driver and an important role model in inspiring the next generation of females in motorsport. We look forward to supporting her in 2023 while she takes on the new challenge in INDY NXT.”

With Chadwick confirmed, Williams now has four drivers in their F1 academy for the 2023 season with Zak O’Sullivan, Franco Colapinto and Oliver Gray being the other three – where all of the three are to race in FIA F3 in 2023.
