Red Bull Junior Team’s Dan Ticktum will get his first chance in a current F1 car in next week’s in-season test at Bahrain International Circuit.

Ticktum will drive for the senior Red Bull Racing team as opposed to driving for Toro Rosso alongside Max Verstappen in the two-day test. The Dutchman will drive the RB15 on Tuesday, April 2 while the British racer will take over on Wednesday, April 3.

This will be Ticktum’s first-ever chance to drive the 2019 Red Bull F1 car after his brief run in the RB7 in a showrun they had in Japan earlier in the month as he prepares for a full year in the Super Formula championship with Team Mugen Honda.

Red Bull is the third team after Ferrari and Haas to confirm its full driver line-up for the first in-season test of the 2019 F1 season with Alfa Romeo Racing naming one of the drivers. Mick Schumacher will drive for both Ferrari (Day 1) and Alfa Romeo (Day 2).

At the same time, Sebastian Vettel will be in action with Ferrari on Day 2. Earlier in the day, Haas announced Romain Grosjean (Day 1) and Pietro Fittipaldi (Day 2) as its drivers for the test with the rest of the field yet to confirm their line-up.

The test will see an additional car being run by Toro Rosso and McLaren as they will undertake a slick compound test for Pirelli with the Italian manufacturer already starting its work to prepare the 2020 F1 tyres – this is first of the six tests lined-up in 2019.
