The championship leader, Esteban Ocon takes the Pole postion on the urban circuit of Pau with only 0.024 second ahead of Max Verstappen.

For this session of qualification of the Pau GP, 26 pilots they are it are launched for a session of 45 minutes in all.

Max Verstappen was a real competitor in front of young driver of Lotus F1 junior, Esteban Ocon. During his last attempt launched he signed a time with only 0.003 front of French driver. Esteban Ocon makes a success and signed the best time of the Group B a few seconds before the exit of a red flag caused by Ed Jones who left to the fault. Jake Dennis finished 3rd of his group (B) after a good session the morning. Tom Blomqvist, penalized by 10 places tomorrow, ended 3rd of the group A.

 

Esteban Ocon (Prema Powerteam): “Especially here, being on pole position is great, I feel fantastic! When the red flags were out for the second time, I hoped that the session wouldn’t be restarted because I was already first in my group. However, the action resumed and I did my utmost to remain on top. The final lap then was my best and was enough to claim pole position, which is particularly nice in my home race. The track here is great and a lot of fun to drive.
