Haas has announced partition with Nico Hulkenberg after the 2024 F1 season, thereby not renewing with him for 2025.

Amid speculations of Hulkenberg signing up with Audi for 2026 by racing for Sauber from 2025 F1 season onward, Haas announced the departure of the German driver at the end of the 2024 season. In short, the two parties weren’t to extend on their current deal.

Hulkenberg was reported to be on Audi’s radar for quite some time and his inclusion in the team was fast-paced in recent times. During media interactions, the German was quite coy about his future and his state of affairs but it has evident now.

Having raced for Renault, Hulkenberg departed F1 and became part of the Aston Martin family in its new guise. He did couple of races with them before signing full-time with Haas in 2023 and continued on for a second year in 2024.

But he will leave Haas after 2024 to embark on a new journey, which is most likely to be another of his old teams i.e Sauber. The American outfit, meanwhile, has indicated of no driver news for now, with Oliver Bearman being one of the hot favourites.

“I’d like to extend my thanks to Nico for his contributions to the team in the time that he’s been here with us – he’s been a great team player and someone we very much enjoy working with,” said team boss Ayao Komatsu.

“His experience and feedback have proved invaluable to us in terms of improving our overall performance – a fact that’s clearly evident in both his qualifying and race performances in the VF-24 this season. There’s lots more racing to go this year so we look forward to continuing to benefit from his inputs throughout the remainder of the 2024 season.”
