Les posicions s’han mantingut després de dues hores de sessió classificatòria a Le Mans. Amb dues banderes vermelles, els Porsche segueixen al front a LMP1, l’Oreca 05 a LMP2 i l’Aston Martin #97 ho fa a GTE.
És el Porsche #19 el que avui lidera a Le Mans. L’amenaça de pluja era present des del principi i els equips ho sabien. Ràpidament tots els cotxes sortien amb pneumàtics nous llestos per marcar el millor temps de la sessió.
L’Audi #7 era el més fort en un principi, després d’una feina intensa de l’equip per solventar els problemes de sobreviratge. L’Audi #9, en canvi, patia problemes als frens i es mantenia a box.
La sessió ha patit dues interrupcions, i és que ha estat força accidentada. Primer ensurt d’Ed Brown, que amb l’Extreme Speed Sport #31 feia una virolla a la xicana de Ford. El Rebellion #13 també acabava al mur a la primera xicana de Des Haunadières. Malgrat això, cap d’aquests dos accidents ha estat el detonant d’una bandera vermella. Aquest seria el Ferrari #55, de la categoria amateur, que s’encallava a la grava. El Toyota #1 s’envirollaria a mitja interrupció.
Retornada la sessió, es recuperava l’activitat a pista. El Porsche #17 patia problemes de subviratge i l’equip l’entrava a box per fer ajustaments. L’Audi #7 pujava a la cinquena posició de la taula.
L’ensurt arribava a La Sarthe. Jan Magnussen, a bord del Corvette #63, perdia el control del seu cotxe a les corves Porsche i impactava violentament contra el mur. El pilot ha estat evacuat a l’hospital i la sessió suspesa. Malgrat no hi ha mala expectativa, l’ambient d’entrada a la propera sessió no és el millor.
