Jorge Martín, rider for the Aprilia Racing Team, has expressed his concern about the possibility of having to undergo surgery after experiencing arm pump issues during the San Marino Grand Prix.

The racer was in first position in Misano when his performance collapsed, finishing in a distant fifth place. This situation allowed Marc Márquez, from Ducati, to equal points with him in the overall standings.

Martín is waiting to determine whether he needs surgery during the weekend of the Austrian Grand Prix, which takes place shortly before the next event in Japan, scheduled for October 3. The uncertainty regarding the recovery time worries him, especially considering that the championship is at a critical moment.

In response to questions about his physical condition after a possible intervention, Martín stated: ‘You never know what will happen during the surgery. That’s why I’m a bit scared, because everything can go well and after a week I’ll be on the motorcycle, but it can also turn complicated.’

His fear is fueled by previous injuries he sustained during last season, which prevented him from finishing several races. ‘I don’t have good memories of the past, so I have to be smart with these decisions,’ he emphasized.

Despite his concerns, Martín regained confidence during the practice session, where he managed to set the fifth-best time with his RS-GP. Initially, he was convinced that he wouldn’t need surgery, but his feelings during Friday’s session have cast doubt.

‘In the morning I was 100% sure I wouldn’t need surgery. In the afternoon I started to have doubts, but that’s normal. I’m tired like I usually am, so I hope I can keep competing at 100%’, he concluded. Martín remains optimistic, although his situation will continue to be an unknown until after the race.
