Lewis Hamilton set the pace in free-practice at Silverstone ahead of Nico Rosberg and Nico Hulkenberg.


Esteban Ocon stepped in for Kevin Magnussen and Charles Leclerc made his debuts in Formula One in Esteban Gutierrez’s car.

Manor were the first cars to head out under a grey sky. Ferrari tested the Halo on Sebastian Vettel’s car or an outlap after Spielberg’s test had been cancelled. Daniel Ricciardo was the first to set a reference time

After half an hour, Nico Rosberg was leading from Lewis Hamilton were ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. Leclerc was the first one to spin in the session at turn 3, the Monegasque managed to head back on track. While drivers headed back to the pits to give back the tyres, Marcus Ericsson was the only one not to have set a laptime.

The Mercedes were the first to head out on track again after the Pirelli window. Hamilton set the fastest time, 0.033s ahead of Rosberg more than two seconds ahead of Fernando Alonso in third. Most drivers were improving after stopping in the pits, especially Force India and Nico Hulkenberg claiming third position.

With fifteen minutes to go, Ericsson set his first flying lap for P20. The rest of the session happened quietly with no change in the hierarchy.

Lewis Hamilton was the fastest with a 1:31.654 ahead of Nico Rosberg and Nico Hulkenberg. Vettel, who faced a gear box issue by the end of the session, finished P4 ahead of Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Perez, Sainz and Alonso for the top 10.
