Pierre Gasly set the fastest time of the practice session at Silverstone ahead of Sergey Sirotkin and Arthur Pic.
Alex Lynn was the first one to head out on track for his local round and also the fastest in the early stages of the session. The Racing Engineering look quite fast as well while the drivers improved lap after lap in the beginning of the session. With half an hour to go, Sergey Sirotkin was leading for 0.001s to Pierre Gasly, Arhur Pic P3. Arden international seemed to have a problem with side flaps being lose on both cars.
When most of cars were back in the pits, Gasly was leading from Sirotkin and Pic. As usual, the MP Motorsports cars were out when most of their rivals were in the pits. Lucas Ghiotto was out halfway through the session, deploying the virtual safety car on track. The drivers were looking for the limits before the race to avoid penalties for track limits although Philo Paz Armand was being shown the back and white flag for that reason.
The rest of the session was devoted to long runs for most of the field, trying to learn the track and accumulating data.
Pierre Gasly set the fastest lap with 1:39.890, the only driver dipping under the 1:40 laptime. Sergey Sirotkin and Arthur Pic complete the top 3. Giovinazzi, Lynn, Nato, Rowland, King, Matsushita -who returned to the series that week-end- and Markelov completed the top 10.
