Leonardo Fornaroli, champion of Formula 2, is ready to conduct his first test with Haas F1 in Jerez. This activity is part of a two-day program dedicated to testing previous vehicles.

The young Italian driver, just 21 years old, will drive at the Spanish circuit on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, with the goal of exploring opportunities to enter the Formula 1 grid in 2027.

This opportunity comes soon after his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in the first practice session of the Barcelona Grand Prix, where he finished fifth and just 0.8 seconds behind the fastest driver, George Russell. Andrea Stella, McLaren’s director, praised Fornaroli’s attitude, speed, and consistency during testing.

Fornaroli is positioned as a potential option for Haas, as, although Oliver Beraman seems likely to remain with the team, Esteban Ocon finds himself in a complicated situation throughout the 2026 season.

In Jerez, Fornaroli will drive last year’s Haas car, while the team’s reserve driver, Ryo Hirakawa, will also participate in the tests.
