F1 shares video of Project Pitlane work with officials, drivers featuring in it

F1, Project Pitlane

F1 has compiled and shared a video regarding its Project Pitlane initiative with team bosses and also selected drivers featuring on it.

Ever since the 2020 F1 season-opener was cancelled amid difficult circumstances where a McLaren member was tested positive for COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a waiting game since then for everyone while several steps are being taken for the well being of people.

One of the positive stories to come out was the ‘Project Pitlane’, where seven of the UK based F1 teams were asked to help NHS to fight COVID-19 pandemic together. They were part of the ‘Ventilator Challenge UK’ project.

Even though certain employees were furloughed, many from Mercedes, Red Bull Racing, Renault, McLaren, Racing Point, Williams and Haas, worked at their bases to fulfill the demands of NHS. The factory which builds F1 parts had life saving things being built.

The work even saw former partners and rivals Red Bull and Renault re-unite to work together at Milton Keynes. Outside the UK, Ferrari continued their help in Italy, while Alfa Romeo Racing played its part in Switzerland too by joining with Saving The Children.

The video showcased all the 10 F1 team principals along with Chase Carey, Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, while drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Antonio Giovinazzi, Sebastian Vettel, Daniil Kvyat and co, featured, with a message of returning soon.

At present, the idea is to return in July with two Austrian GP rounds at Red Bull Ring but it is yet to be made official, as places like UK, Hungary, Belgium, Italy and even Germany is likely to form a part of the European leg of the shortened 2020 F1 season.
