F1 has released further details of the Task Force they are setting-up under ‘We Race As One’ initiative as Chase Carey donates to kick-start work.
Further strengthening its reach amid COVID-19 pandemic and global outrage of lack of balance, F1 has released details of the Task Force it talked about when launching ‘We Race As One’ initiative with start-funding secured from CEO Carey.
The American has funded the foundation with $1m, which has been set-up to help under represented personnel with internships and scholarships within motor racing. The Task Force will have inputs from F1 drivers and teams with experts.
F1 notes that the set-up will take few months to be fully ready and it will specifically focus on identifying the employment and education opportunities for groups across F1 which includes STEM careers. The sport wants to be a true difference globally.
“We fully recognise that F1 needs to be more inclusive and diverse,” said Carey. “While we set out our strategy last year to improve the position of our sport, we need, and want, to do more. That is why we will establish a Task Force to listen and ensure the right initiatives are identified to increase diversity in Formula 1.
“We want to ensure we give people from all backgrounds the best chances to work in Formula 1 regardless of their gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or physical abilities. We are therefore also taking the initial step of creating a foundation to support key educational and employment opportunities across F1 that will give under-represented talent the chance to work in this incredible sport and build an exciting career.”
