The young Colombian driver, son of Juan Pablo Montoya, joins the Italian team.

Juan Pablo Montoya, former F1 driver, and currently still active in competitions like the IndyCar, had in his time in F1, fights with drivers like Michael Schumacher, of the Cavallino Rampante team.

The Colombian never dressed in red, never climbed into a F1 Ferrari, but that dream can be fulfilled by his son, Sebastián Montoya. The young driver of only 12 years, has been signed by the Italian squad for his training program for young talents, the Ferrari Driver Academy.

He becomes the new pilot of the FDA, where he will share program with talents such as Charles Leclerc, currently already in F1 where he will race with the Alfa Romeo-Sauber, Giuliano Alesi, Antonio Fuoco and Enzo Fittipaldi. The plan that the Academy has for the Colombian driver is to follow his training in European Karting.

So, Montoya will train both on and off the track in different training plans. This plan also includes points such as healthy nutrition, with a new diet, or protocol to follow with the media. This same year, Sebastián will run in the OKJ category of the European Karting Championship, in the Tony Kart line-up, clear dominator of the Karting scene.

From the same web portal of the Ferrari Driver Academy they defined the objectives with Sebastián Montoya and the pilots who are part of it: “Provide the necessary resources to young drivers for their growth from a personal point of view, in order to help them to develop their driving techniques, their physical training and to become familiar with the economic aspects of racing”.

Montoya Jr could not hide his happiness: “It’s something I did not think was going to happen, I always wanted to be with Red Bull and then I got a chance to be with Tony Kart, we took it and thank God we got the Ferrari Program. Hopefully we will do very well with that”, said the son of Juan Pablo Montoya.

After participating in the European Karting Championship in 2017, Montoya is rewarded with his talent and will have the opportunity to grow even more as a driver.
