The Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlioglu will not participate in the rest of the 2026 MotoGP season, as confirmed by his team, Pramac Racing. This news represents a hard blow for both the rider and the team, particularly given the difficulties Razgatlioglu has faced during his adaptation to the category.
In a social media post from Pramac, it was reported that the rider will miss both the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island and the rest of the competition. Razgatlioglu expressed his disappointment: ‘Phillip Island is one of my favorite circuits, where I have experienced very special moments during my Superbikes career. I was very excited about the opportunity to race here with the MotoGP bike, so accepting this situation is very difficult.’
The injury occurred during the second session of free practice at Mandalika, where he suffered a dislocation of his right shoulder. After relocating the injury, he participated in the qualifying session, but could not compete in the Sunday race due to intense pain. Subsequent tests indicated that the injury was more serious than initially thought, resulting in the need for surgery.
‘After an additional medical evaluation, it became clear that my shoulder injury is more serious than we thought at first. Therefore, I will need to undergo surgery in the coming days to ensure a complete recovery and to return to 100%,’ Razgatlioglu commented. This decision, he added, has not been easy, but it is necessary for his sporting future.
Razgatlioglu’s signing by Yamaha was based on his previous experience with Pirelli tires in Superbikes and the transition that MotoGP was about to experience with those tires. Now, his absence will hinder his participation in the decisive phase of the development of the 2027 MotoGP of the Japanese brand.
The situation of Razgatlioglu reminds fans of other riders who have suffered similar injuries, such as Marc Márquez and Maverick Viñales, who still feel the consequences of their injuries.
Regarding Pramac Racing, the team will race in the Australian Grand Prix with only one rider, the local Jack Miller.
