Red Bull Racing surprised with an un-announced filming day at Silverstone with Alexander Albon as Max Verstappen could make it due to restrictions.
After AlphaTauri combined testing with filming day at Imola on Wednesday, Red Bull surprised everyone on Thursday morning with its own filming run at Silverstone albeit only with Albon as Verstappen did not travel due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Albon drove the current 2020 F1 car for 100 km using the demonstration tyres by Pirelli. Red Bull chief Christian Horner was present as well, as the team got the chance to test the safety protocols as well ahead of the 2020 start in Austria next month.
Red Bull became the only leading F1 team to run the 2020 car as Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault opted for a full test run using the 2018 machine. While AlphaTauri combined as mentioned above, Racing Point was the only other team to use the current car.
Like Red Bull had just Albon, Racing Point also had only Lance Stroll. It is unlikely that any F1 team will have a track run before the 2020 start. Majority went for kart run with some in F3 cars with Verstappen and Romain Grosjean likely doing nothing, at least publicly.
