The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has renewed its contract with Dorna Sports to continue hosting the Grand Prix of Catalonia until 2021. The Circuit de Montmeló has hosted a MotoGP World Championship Grand Prix ever since 1992. Jordi Baiget (Counselor of Entrepreneurship And Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya) and Carmelo Ezpeleta (CEO of Dorna Sports) signed the agreement last Wednesday to extend the contract for five more years.

Jordi Baiget:

“Having renewed this contract is very significant for us because of the economy and jobs it generates. Montmeló reaffirms itself in an important point for the automobile industry, something that has already become a tradition.”

Carmelo Ezpeleta:

“Without doubt, renewing the contract with the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit until 2021 is fantastic news for MotoGP and all its fans. It is an institution that has been with us since the beginning, in 1992, and its commitment to the sport is total. The fact that Catalonia has secured a Grand Prix until 2021 shows that the trust between the two parts is firm.”
