Marc Márquez, rider of the Ducati team, states that he feels no additional pressure despite his reemerging candidacy for the MotoGP 2026 title, highlighting that winning another championship will not alter his life.
After battling physical limitations at the start of the season and missing two races due to surgery, Márquez has made a remarkable recovery, winning three of the last four races. This return has elevated him from the bottom of the standings, now sitting in third place, just 18 points behind championship leader Jorge Martín.
With several rivals vying for consistency, many consider Márquez as the favorite to secure his tenth world title, a feat that would bring him closer to the legendary Valentino Rossi. However, the 33-year-old rider downplays the significance of adding another championship to his career, as he has already successfully rebound from his injuries in 2020.
“Five riders within 24 points. We start from zero. 24 points is very little,” Márquez commented looking ahead to the next race in Silverstone. He explained that his situation is different from that of rivals seeking to make history with their first title in the top class.
“For them, the title can change their lives. My life, one title more or less will not change it,” he stated. Therefore, he anticipates that other riders, such as Marco Bezzecchi, Ai Ogura, and Fabio di Giannantonio, will bring a heightened intensity to the competition.
Moreover, among the title contenders, only Márquez and Martín have previously experienced a battle for the championship in MotoGP. The Spanish rider hopes to seize the opportunity that has arisen as the championship progresses, without feeling the pressure of being the favorite.
“If you ask them, they’ll surely say that the favorite is the one who has already won. In the end, my ambition remains the same,” he concluded. From now on, Márquez intends to fight until the end with his rivals, taking advantage of this ‘second chance’ that has been granted to him.
