The world of MotoGP has received new news with the announcement from Pramac Yamaha, confirming that Izan Guevara will join the team in 2027. The young Spanish rider, currently competing in Moto2, will replace Jack Miller, who recently made public his decision to leave the category.

Guevara, who is part of Yamaha’s rider development program, has had a notable fourth season in Moto2. He currently occupies the second position in the championship, battling with Manu Gonzales and Senna Agius, just 42.5 points behind the leader, with ten races still to go.

The 22-year-old rider has expressed his excitement for this new stage: ‘It’s a dream come true. Reaching MotoGP has always been my goal, and I know that entering the premier category is not easy. I have worked hard these years and have had the support of my family and my team.’

After winning the Moto3 title during his second season with Aspar, Guevara faced difficulties in 2023 moving up to Moto2. However, a change to Pramac resulted in a positive turnaround, culminating in a victory at the Valencia race. Since then, he has shown significant growth, with wins in Le Mans and other podiums in Austin and Sachsenring during this season.

Paolo Pavesio, head of Yamaha, praised Guevara’s maturity over the past few years and pointed out that the regulatory overhaul in 2027 provides an ideal moment for his genuine ascent to MotoGP. According to Pavesio, Guevara’s rise is a successful example of the BLU CRU program: ‘We have been aware of his talent for years, and his determination has confirmed that he is ready for this new challenge.’

This announcement completes Yamaha’s lineup for the upcoming season, with Ai Ogura and Jorge Martin set to join the factory team while Guevara will collaborate with Miller at Pramac.
