Freddie Slater, who finished second in Formula 3 in 2026, has signed a contract with Invicta Racing to participate in Formula 2 during the 2027 season. This former Trident driver gained experience and showcased his talent throughout his career in Formula 3.
Slater, who was the champion of Italian F4 in 2024 and European Formula Regional in 2025, joined Audi as part of its new driver development program. Last season, he achieved four consecutive podiums that led him to lead the championship, although he ultimately lost the title battle to Campos driver Ugo Ugochukwu.
After finishing the season with a total of eight podiums, Slater expressed excitement about his new step into Formula 2. ‘I learned a lot in Formula 3 this year and feel that I have grown both as a driver and as a person. I am looking forward to starting with Invicta Racing and preparing our campaign,’ commented the young British driver.
Audi’s driver development program director, Allan McNish, noted that the move to Formula 2 is a natural step in his career. His performance in Formula 3 has been admired for its rapid progression and competitive skills, and the potential of Invicta Racing to continue the successes of previous drivers, who won consecutive titles, is highly notable.
Slater, who has made a significant impression in his debut season in Formula 3, is now preparing to face the new challenges that await him in Formula 2 in 2027.
