Freddie Slater, who finished second in the Formula 3 category this season and is part of Audi’s Formula 1 junior program, has announced his rise to Formula 2 with the Invicta Racing team for the 2027 season.
After a remarkable performance in Formula 3 with Trident, where he accumulated four consecutive podiums in feature races, Slater took the lead in the championship before the summer break. Despite adding more points to his total, competition was tough and he finished the season behind Ugo Ugochukwu, earning the title of best rookie.
The young Briton’s successes include multiple podiums, highlighted by victory in Hungary, placing him in a good position for his new stage. ‘I am very excited to make the jump to Formula 2 with Invicta Racing next year,’ commented Slater, who highly values the experience gained during the Formula 3 season.
Invicta Racing is noted for its successful track record in Formula 2, with several drivers having secured the title in their first seasons after passing through Trident. Currently, Rafael Camara, one of Invicta’s drivers, is competing for the 2026 season, strengthening the team with examples of previous triumphs.
Allan McNish, director of Audi’s driver development program, expressed his satisfaction with Slater’s progress. ‘The transition to Formula 2 is a natural step for him and an important phase in his development as a driver. He has demonstrated his speed and competitive ability throughout his career so far,’ assured McNish.
