Francesco Bagnaia has firmly responded to a video circulating on social media, in which it seems to suggest that Ducati is limiting his options to adjust his bike. The Italian rider stated that his comments have been «totally out of context».
After a disappointing race in Misano, Bagnaia was seen talking to Fabio di Giannantonio from the VR46 team in a press area. At that moment, the teammate suggested that Bagnaia’s bike setup was «very basic», and the two-time MotoGP champion replied: «they won’t let me do it». This phrase sparked an intense reaction on social media.
Upon his arrival at the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand Prix, Bagnaia rejected insinuations that Ducati is not supporting him in his challenging moments and criticized DAZN for publishing the video. «I have always said that the team does everything possible to help me,» the rider commented.
Furthermore, he added that the situation shown in Misano does not reflect his relationship with the team. «The video is out of context, the full conversation was not shown, and my last phrase was not the right one. We all have difficult moments when we are frustrated».
Bagnaia also clarified that he has tested several solutions to solve the rear grip problems he has been experiencing. «What I wanted to say is that I have tried to adjust various aspects of the bike in the past, but now I don’t want to continue with those changes,» he clarified.
To conclude, he emphasized that his relationship with Ducati remains good, with no significant changes after discussing the video with the team management after the San Marino Grand Prix. «Yesterday we talked about this. It’s normal for what appears on television to seem terrible, but they know I am grateful and that their help is constant.»
