Williams Racing announced departure of both Jost Capito and FX Demaison from their respective position ahead of 2023 F1 season.

In a surprise move, Williams has announced the departure of two key figures ahead of the 2023 F1 season. One of them is its CEO and Team Principal Capito, while the other is technical director Demaison, having only joined recently.

In fact, Capito has held the role for two seasons and brought Demaison as the technical director but both of them will leave at the end of the year 2022. The former handled Williams at a time of transition after the family sold the team to Dorilton Capital.

He took over from Simon Roberts who held the spot on interim basis. Since Capito came into the team, they have improved on their results but only by just. Having lost George Russell, they roped in Alexander Albon for 2023 alongside debutant Logan Sargeant.

They were looking for upward trend in this new era but this comes as a shock to everyone. Williams will announce its new team principal and technical director in due course. “It has been a huge privilege to lead Williams Racing for the last two seasons and to lay the foundations for the turnaround of this great team,” said Capito.

“I look forward to watching the team as it continues on its path to future success.” At the same time, Matthew Savage added: “We would like to thank Jost for his hard work and dedication as we embarked on a major transformation process to begin the journey of reviving Williams Racing.

“We’re grateful that Jost postponed his planned retirement to take on this challenge and now he will pass the reins on for the next part of this staged process. We would also like to thank FX for his contribution and wish him all the best for his future as he moves on.”
