The training day at the Circuit of the Americas has been tumultuous for Red Bull Racing driver Isack Hadjar. While his teammate Max Verstappen gave positive feedback on the initial impressions of the vehicle, Hadjar faced significant difficulties with the setup of his car.
Hadjar finished the first session in fourteenth place, although he initially had good feelings. However, he decided to go for a change in his setup for the second session, thinking it might yield better results. ‘After the first practice, I had an optimistic feeling,’ he explained. ‘But the change I made ended up causing more problems than I imagined.’
According to the French driver, the vehicle was difficult to control, especially with soft tires. ‘The tire temperature was a major issue. Even though I felt good with the mediums, I really struggled with the softs: the car was, literally, undrivable,’ Hadjar stated.
The balancing problems caused the front tires to wear out quickly, affecting his performance. ‘It was a total disaster. My best lap was in the first sector, but as I went through the circuit, I lost time,’ he lamented.
The technical director of Red Bull, Pierre Wache, acknowledged that tire degradation was unacceptable, especially in the fast corners. ‘If the tires wear out so quickly, it is practically impossible to have a good lap. We need to review the situation before qualifying,’ Wache assured.
Now, Hadjar’s goal is to adjust the setup before qualifying, hoping to improve the performance of his car. ‘If the other side of the garage can solve it, I trust we can find the way too,’ concluded the driver.
