Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas took off from teammate Lewis Hamilton to head F1 Hungarian GP FP3 as Racing Point’s Sergio Perez ended up third.

After the greasy conditions in FP2, the F1 pack got a fairly dry track in FP3 of F1 Hungarian GP at Hungaroring as Mercedes ended up 1-2 again, although, Bottas (1m15.437s) headed teammate Hamilton (1m15.479s) by 0.042s in a close fight.

On one of his earlier laps, Hamilton had avoided a crash with Racing Point’s Perez in the final corner. The Mexican finished third after a late lap of 1m15.598s as he pipped Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (1m15.781s), who did well to be up there.

Racing Point’s Lance Stroll (1m16.033s) was fifth as Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen lined up in sixth after the team used its jokers to work on the car under curfew time. The Dutchman looked 50-50 in the session which included a spin early on.

McLaren’s Lando Norris (1m16.193s) had an off at one point but managed the seventh best time as Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel (1m16.351s) was eighth with AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly (1m6.453s) and Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo (1m16.508s) rounding out the Top 10.

A late lap from the Australian dropped McLaren’s Carlos Sainz (1m16.545s) to 11th as the Frenchman complained of lack of power at one point but did well to get inside the Top 10. Red Bull’s Alexander Albon (1m16.582s) dropped to 13th as a result.

The Thai seems to be under pressure as he ended up around half a second behind his teammate but to his dismay others around him sneak in, in that time frame. Behind Albon, Renault’s Esteban Ocon (1m16.706s) was 13th.

Williams’ George Russell (1m16.847s) did well in 14th with Haas duo Romain Grosjean (1m16.866s) and Kevin Magnussen (1m17.085s) lined up 15th and 16th respectively, as AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat (1m17.292s) was 17th.

Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi (1m17.496s) and Kimi Raikkonen (1m17.527s) were only 18th and 19th, with Williams’ Nicholas Latifi (1m17.650s) in 20th as the Finn had an early off while Canadian also had a spin.
