Haas re-affirmed that it will stick with its line-up of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin for 2021 and that the matter has been dealt internally.
Ever since the incident took place, the social media has been lit, with hashtags like #WeSayNoToMazepin, something on the lines with F1’s own #WeRaceAsOne message. Petitions to remove Mazepin from Haas has been ongoing for weeks now.
So much so that whatever Haas sends out on its social media, there are messages with hashtag demanding them to drop Mazepin. With an apparent bio change on Twitter from Pietro Fittipaldi, fans started to believe that the Russian will be dropped finally.
In fact, Mazepin deleted all his tweets from Twitter – included the apology he posted – leaving just the tweets he has liked. It did seem like a fresh start for him or perhaps leaving social media all-together but fans took it as an apparent change in order.
However, Haas released a statement to quash those rumours stating that it will stick to its current line-up of Schumacher and Mazepin. Additionally, they repeated their last stance of dealing the matter internally, whereby Guenther Steiner is already taking action on it.
Here’s the statement from Haas:
“Haas F1 Team would like to reaffirm that Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher will form its driver lineup for the 2021 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. As per the team’s previous statement regarding the actions of Nikita Mazepin (December 9) – this matter has now been dealt with internally and no further comment shall be made.”
