There were 17 F1 races in 2020 and 21 in 2019 but FormulaRapida.net still has prepped up an absolute difference of points and other things for teams and drivers.

After a remarkable 2020 F1 season, FormulaRapida.net felt it worthwhile to explore the statistical discrepancies between this past year and that which preceded it, 2019. Using both direct comparisons, and metrics accounting for variables such as an abbreviated 2020 season, we contrasted performances of both teams and drivers.

Notable changes were observed among the mid-field teams, many of whom excelled in 2020 despite a season of only 17 F1 races – four less than 2019. Of the five teams widely considered part of the mid-field, in fact, only one lost points, that being Ferrari. The Italian marque struggled in 2020, despite having been a frontrunning outfit in 2019.

Of the teams on the grid, Racing Point was the most successful when compared to F1 2019, with Ferrari the least. The former outfit benefitted from a win in Sakhir with Sergio Perez as one of two first-time winners in 2020, with the other being Alpha Tauri who won in the Italian GP with Pierre Gasly.
