F1 confirms no replacement of Chinese GP for 2023 season

    F1 has confirmed that there will be no replacement of the cancelled Chinese GP for the 2023 season.

    After the cancellation of the Chinese GP due to their existing COVID-19 restrictions, there were speculation about F1 looking at possible venues like Portugal or Turkey to replace the grand prix. In the meantime, news surfaced of ease of the said restrictions in China.

    But despite that, things didn’t look great for the grand prix to return. And with other venues seemingly not viable, F1 has eventually confirmed a 23-race calendar for the 2023 season with no replacement of the cancelled Chinese GP.

    “Formula 1 can confirm the 2023 season will consist of 23 races. All existing race dates on the calendar remain unchanged,” it said in a short statement. The season starts early in Bahrain on March 5 and ends on November 26 in Abu Dhabi.

    The first half very light on races, with the second jam packed. In fact, the cancellation of China has opened up a three weeks gap on the calendar between Australia and Azerbaijan. The latter is being clubbed with Miami in a crazy back-to-back situation.
