AJ Foyt Racing has officially announced the signing of Dennis Hauger, the winner of the IndyCar Rookie of the Year award for 2026, for a long-term contract starting with the 2027 season. The 23-year-old Norwegian driver will take control of car number 14, a Chevrolet from Homes For Our Troops.

Hauger, who arrived in the United States in 2025, dominated the Indy NXT by Firestone series with six wins, earning him the rookie title. His trajectory in Europe includes the Italian Formula 4 title in 2019, the FIA Formula 3 championship in 2021, and five wins in FIA Formula 2, in addition to a long career with the Red Bull Junior team.

The team president, Larry Foyt, highlighted Hauger’s versatility as one of the reasons he was chosen for the team’s long-term program. «Dennis has achieved a lot for being so young. Every time he has moved up a category, he has adapted quickly and won. His performance in Indy NXT caught our attention, and we followed his progress in his rookie season in IndyCar,» Foyt added.

Hauger has also expressed optimism about his future with AJ Foyt Racing: «I have learned a lot in my early years in America. I am excited about the team’s future and want to work hard with everyone to see how far we can go.»

Hauger’s public debut with the team is scheduled for October 2 at the GM Defense Valor & Velocity gala in Warren, Michigan. This event, which benefits the Medal of Honor Foundation, will feature car number 14 on display, highlighting the impact of the Homes For Our Troops initiative to help severely injured veterans.

Foyt has emphasized that the will to win is a central point for both Hauger and the team. «Dennis wants to win, and we do too. That is the foundation of everything.» This signing marks the beginning of a series of announcements that AJ Foyt Racing will make regarding its driver lineup for the 2027 season.
