AJ Foyt Racing has announced the addition of Dennis Hauger, who was recently named Rookie of the Year 2026 in the IndyCar Series, through a multi-year contract that will begin during the 2027 season. The 23-year-old Norwegian driver will pilot the number 14 Chevrolet entry, sponsored by Homes For Our Troops.
After an impressive year in the United States, where he achieved six victories in the Indy NXT, Hauger has pursued a prominent career. He won the Italian Formula 4 championship in 2019, the FIA Formula 3 title in 2021, and has accumulated five wins in FIA Formula 2, in addition to a long tenure with the Red Bull Junior team.
The team president, Larry Foyt, has highlighted Hauger’s versatility as a key factor for their long-term project. ‘Dennis has accomplished a lot for his youth, and every time he has changed categories, he has adapted quickly and won,’ Foyt commented, emphasizing the attention Hauger drew with his performance in the Indy NXT and his adaptation to the new IndyCar competition.
Hauger has also expressed excitement about his new phase: ‘I am very excited. I have had productive conversations with Larry about the direction of the team. I have learned a lot during my two years here, but there is still much to learn and achieve. The history of this team fascinates me, but I am also interested to see where we want to go in the future.’
Hauger’s public debut with AJ Foyt Racing will take place on October 2 during the GM Defense Valor & Velocity gala in Warren, Michigan. This event, which will serve to raise funds for the Medal of Honor Foundation, will feature the number 14 car and representatives from Hendricks Holding Company and Homes For Our Troops.
Larry Foyt concluded by highlighting the team’s ambition: ‘We are investing in our people and technical software, and we want to keep moving forward. Dennis is a fundamental part of this plan.’ Hauger’s addition is just the first in a series of announcements that AJ Foyt Racing plans to make regarding its driver lineup for the 2027 season.
