AJ Foyt Racing has confirmed the signing of Dennis Hauger, the 2026 IndyCar Rookie of the Year, with a long-term deal that will start in the 2027 season. The 23-year-old Norwegian driver will pilot vehicle number 14, equipped with a Chevrolet engine from Homes For Our Troops.
Hauger made his jump to American competition in 2025, where he dominated in Indy NXT with a total of six victories, earning him the rookie championship. Before this success, he had accumulated notable experience in Europe, with a title in FIA Formula 3 and five victories in FIA Formula 2.
The team’s president, Larry Foyt, highlighted Hauger’s adaptability as one of the key factors for his signing. «Dennis has achieved a lot at just 23 years old. He has shown that he can quickly adapt to each new category, and winning in Indy NXT caught everyone’s attention. We have been watching his progress in his debut season in IndyCar with great interest,» Foyt commented.
For his part, Hauger expressed his excitement for this new challenge and his willingness to contribute to the team’s growth. «The team has a great history in this sport, and I am fascinated by the future goal they are building. I want to work hard with all of them and see how far we can go,» said the driver, who previously competed with Dale Coyne Racing.
His public debut with AJ Foyt Racing will take place on October 2 at the GM Defense Valor & Velocity gala, to be held at the GM Design Dome in Warren, Michigan. This event will benefit the Medal of Honor Foundation, and its connection with Homes For Our Troops is a highlight for Hauger.
Foyt added that the team’s goal is to win and that Hauger will play a key role in this objective. «We are investing in our team, our technical side, and our business program because we want to keep moving forward. Dennis is a key piece of this plan,» he concluded.
Hauger’s arrival is just the first of several moves that AJ Foyt Racing will announce soon regarding its driver lineup for the 2027 season.
