Colton Herta has confirmed that he will not attempt to compete in the Indianapolis 500 and in the Formula 2 round in Montreal on the same day. The California driver, who is currently in his first season in F2, has decided to focus on this competition, despite the expectations generated by his participation in the Indy 500 with the Andretti Global team.

Herta, who is currently a test driver for the Cadillac Formula 1 team, had considered the possibility of participating in both races before the start of the 2026 season. However, the suspension of the F2 calendar due to the conflict in the Middle East has changed his priorities, with additions of races in locations such as Miami and Montreal.

Although the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are less than 500 miles apart, Herta has decided that F2 is his priority. “I had visions of being able to do it, but I always knew it wouldn’t be realistic,” he commented. “For me, F2 and Cadillac are my priorities this year.”

Herta scored points in his F2 debut with a seventh place in Australia, and now he hopes not to have to wait too long to compete again. “I’m excited to race in Miami and Montreal, as they are tracks that seem very interesting,” he added.

During this period, Herta has also returned to his past in IndyCar, attending the Arlington Grand Prix. Despite his interest in this competition, he recognizes that participating in IndyCar races would not help his current career. “I would love to participate in an IndyCar race, but it wouldn’t be helpful for me in my current journey,” he concluded.
