Roberto Merhi will join Campos Racing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the traditional venue of collective preseason testing, next week. The Castellon-born driver will team up with Ralph Boschung to complete a three-day two-car test with both Dallara-built cars entered by Campos Racing.

Castellón stalwart Merhi is a motorsport all-rounder. Roberto racked up 13 F1 races in 2015 but his extensive racing experience includes the World Endurance Championship and the 24 hours of Le Mans (2016), or the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (2012-2013), among others. Widely regarded as one of the most talented drivers of his generation, Merhi scored wins, podiums finishes and pole positions in nearly almost every type of car but his two career highlights are the European F.3 title in 2011 and title contention battling with Carlos Sainz in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2014.

Campos Racing and Roberto Merhi are working together to confirm his presence in the new FIA Formula Two championship as soon as possible as it is the right decision to relaunch his career. Ross Brawn, the new racing boss of Formula 1, stressed that F.2 winners will step up to F.1, so the renamed FIA Formula 2 championship will give him a big chance.
