Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist gets introduced to another category as he becomes Formula E driver for Mahindra Racing.

After several years spent in Formula Renault 2.0 of which he was Asian, Swedish and NEZ Champion; then five years in Formula 3 until he got crowned as European champion last season with Prema Powerteam, Felix Rosenqvist is taking a polyvalent dimension this season. Indeed, he raced at least once in no less than six categories this season such as Indy Lights, Blancpain GT, ADAC GT Masters or more recently in DTM replacing Esteban Ocon who has been promoted to Formula One. He says:

“I’m thrilled to join Mahindra Racing at this exciting time. Racing in Formula E will be something genuinely brand new to me. It’s a step into the unknown, but I’ve had a very warm welcome by Mahindra Racing and I have a strong and experienced team-mate in Nick [Heidfeld].”

The German drivers has indeed been confirmed for a third season within the team which parts ways with Bruno Senna for their third season in Formula E. Felix Rosenqvist is the fourth rookie to be announced for this season with Jose Maria Lopez (DS Virgin), Maro Engel (Venturi) and Adam Carroll (Jaguar). As we are just about to start pre-season testing at Donnington Park, all the teams except Jaguar and NEXTEC TCR have announced their line ups for the 2016-2017 season.

Felix Rosenqvist arrival in the series confirms the interest Mercedes has in the Formula E championship although it’s not set to be confirmed by a team before a few years.
