Williams F1 junior Jamie Chadwick has joined Prema Powerteam to compete in the 2020 Formula Regional European Championship.

With the cancellation of the W Series in 2020, Chadwick was left with no competition as reports of her testing with Prema surfaced. It put her on line to compete in the Formula Regional European Championship, even though the team had a full line-up.

It became clear eventually as Prema announced a mutual parting with Roman Stanek on Tuesday morning and subsequently confirmed Chadwick as its fourth driver alongside Arthur Leclerc, Gianluca Petecof and Oliver Rasmussen for 2020 season.

“I am absolutely elated to be teaming up with Prema Powerteam for the Formula Regional European Championship this year,” said 2019 W Series champion, Chadwick. “With such an amazing calendar, what looks to be a very competitive grid, and of course the support of the Prema team, I really cannot wait to get back racing in August.

“I am incredibly grateful to Rodin Cars and David Dicker for this life changing opportunity, and their support in the next chapter of my racing career. I’m so excited to start this journey with them and I hope we can enjoy mutual success together.”

Team principal Angelo Rosin added: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie Chadwick to our Formula Regional European team for the upcoming season. She achieved brilliant results in her career so far, and we are looking forward to seeing her step up to this challenging international championship.

“Coming from the W Series, she knows the machinery quite well and her experience will definitely be a valuable asset. We are absolutely committed and will give our 100 per cent to help her succeed.”

Stanek may find another seat in another team as the 2020 Formula Regional European Championship is slated to start at Misano on July 31 – August 2 weekend, with it ending on December 4-6 at Vallelunga – with eight rounds planned to take place.
