Tristan McKee, a 16-year-old driver, has achieved the crown of the ARCA Menard’s Series East division, surpassing Max Reaves in the last race of the season held at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
McKee, who is part of the Spire Motorsports team, approached the race with only a one-point lead over the promising driver from Joe Gibbs Racing. Despite the pressure, he remained in the top positions for almost the entire competition.
In a race dominated by Carson Brown, who won after leading all laps, McKee finished in second place. Reaves, who had initially dropped to seventh position in the last restart, managed to climb back to fourth place but could not surpass McKee, who finished approximately 3.8 seconds ahead of him.
McKee expressed his satisfaction with the title achieved: ‘I feel very good. It means a lot to win a championship both in Trans Am and in the lower levels of NASCAR. We have had a good year and I knew I just had to do well today.’
During the season, McKee has excelled, achieving four victories and not a single result worse than third place in the eight scheduled races of the ARCA East. Reaves, on his part, has also stood out with two victories in his first season.
Additionally, McKee has recently debuted in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with Spire, where he has obtained two consecutive top tens, finishing eighth in Richmond and sixth in Loudon.
After the ARCA race, McKee will participate in the next Truck Series race that will take place in Bristol this Thursday.
