Pedro Acosta has started the Austrian Grand Prix of MotoGP on the right foot, achieving the best time during the first day of practices at the Spielberg circuit. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider is looking for his first victory before leaving the team at the end of the season.

Acosta not only led the morning free practice session, but also set the best time in the afternoon, consolidating his domination. With a difference of almost half a second compared to his competitors, he finished the day in a privileged position ahead of rival brands such as Ducati and Aprilia.

His closest rivals, joint championship leaders Marc Márquez (Ducati) and Jorge Martín (Aprilia), qualified for Q2 along with Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), who has been a consistent force this season.

The session was interrupted by an accident involving Alex Márquez, which caused the red flag. However, before the interruption, his brother, Marc Márquez, managed to achieve a competitive enough time to place second. After the resumption, some riders, including Bezzecchi and Francesco Bagnaia, struggled to enter the top 10, although not all stars managed to do so.

Acosta clearly maintained his position against the competition until the end of the session. Other names that stood out were Fermin Aldeguer and Ai Ogura, who secured very high placements with respective times for third and fourth place.

The next qualifying day promises to be intense, with Acosta hoping to translate this initial form into his first triumph.
