Hendrick Motorsports, the most successful team in the history of NASCAR, has announced the return of its record yellow neon car numbers for the 2027 season. This decision marks a throwback to the golden times of the organization, when yellow numbers became synonymous with victory and success.

Historically, the yellow numbers have been associated with the wings of winning cars, including the five consecutive titles of Jimmie Johnson between 2006 and 2010 and the four titles of Jeff Gordon. With the introduction of neon numbers, the new generation of drivers will also have the opportunity to showcase this iconic design, starting with the drivers from the main category and also those from the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

Starting in 2027, all of the team’s vehicles, including those of Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Alex Bowman, will display the yellow numbers. The No. 17 of Corey Day in the O’Reilly series will also be included in this style renewal.

Since its founding in 1984, Hendrick Motorsports has set numerous records, with a total of 323 victories in the Cup Series, 15 championships, and a remarkable success in major races like the Daytona 500. Recently, the team has signed rising star Connor Zilisch to take over from Bowman starting in 2028.
