Haas is aware of the minor hand surgery requirements for Kevin Magnussen and expects him to be fully fit for the F1 2023 start.

Having compete in the Gulf 24 Hours in December, Magnussen was gearing up for racing in Daytona 24 Hours later this month with MDK Motorsport alongside father Jan, Mark Kvamme and Trenton Estep. They are to drive a Porsche 911 GT3 in the GT category.

But his participation is in doubt after Magnussen revealed of a minor surgery requirement on his left hand. While speaking to mynewsdesk.com, the Dane noted about a harmless surgery and the subsequent rest he is to take which will likely force him to miss the race.

“I had a sore wrist so I went to the doctor to have it looked at and they found a cyst that needs to be removed now so I can be ready for the F1 season,” said Magnussen. “It’s a harmless procedure, but I probably need to rest for a couple of weeks afterwards. I need to wait and see what the doctor says, but it’s unlikely that I can race at Daytona.”

His priority will be the F1 season and so he is ready to miss the Daytona race to be ready for the 2023 season. In the meantime, Haas has been made aware of the surgery and the American outfit is certain that he will be fully fit for testing and the season ahead.

“Kevin Magnussen has kept MoneyGram Haas F1 Team fully briefed on his requirement for minor hand surgery,” said a short statement from the team. “The team is looking forward to Kevin being at full strength for his pre-season testing commitments starting next month.”
