Pierre Gasly, Alpine driver in Formula 1, has expressed his frustration after a disappointing performance at the Dutch Grand Prix, attributed to the tactics of the Racing Bulls team. The competition between both teams has intensified in the fight for fifth place in the constructors’ championship.

Although Gasly had a good performance in Zandvoort, qualifying and finishing eighth in the sprint race, the start of the Grand Prix was not so favorable, as he could only position himself in 11th place. However, with a good start, he quickly moved up to eighth place, until his first pit stop left him behind Arvid Lindblad.

Gasly was stuck behind Lindblad for seven laps, who had to overcome a penalty for failing to respect the yellow flag. In an attempt to overtake, Gasly got blocked at turn 11, losing position to Nico Hulkenberg and being overtaken by Yuki Tsunoda, his teammate at Racing Bulls, who completed an overtaking maneuver set up from turn 3.

After a second pit stop, Gasly found himself again behind Tsunoda, taking another 10 laps to get past him. ‘VCARB ruined our race midway through, playing a team game for the championship,’ lamented Gasly. Despite the difficulties, he believes his good memories will help him recover in the upcoming races.

The strategies of Racing Bulls did not affect the terrestrial team, with Tsunoda and Lindblad finishing in 11th and 12th places, respectively. Gasly finished seconds behind Fernando Alonso, losing crucial time due to the blockage that Lindblad caused.

Despite the disappointment, Gasly is optimistic about the future: ‘You can’t overtake in Zandvoort, but that will change in future circuits. I will make sure we remember this race and smile at the end of this year.’

In response to Gasly’s complaints, Lindblad assured that he was playing his role in the team, without his actions having a major impact on himself. With Racing Bulls leading the standings with 66 points and Alpine closely following with 63, competition between the two teams is only expected to intensify in the upcoming races.
