The Formula 1 driver for the Alpine team, Franco Colapinto, has shared details of a theft he suffered in Milan during his summer break. With a humorous tone, he described the incident as «the worst day of my life» after thieves made off with not only his documentation but also his personal clothing.

Initially, Colapinto announced the loss through an Instagram post on August 6. Now, during an interview with ESPN, he has elaborated on the incident, which occurred while he was enjoying a meal at an Italian restaurant in the city.

«They stole everything from me,» the young Argentine commented. «They could have just taken my mate. My wallet, my passport, all my clothes… A total disaster. I was left with nothing in Milan.» According to him, it all happened while he was enjoying his favorite carbonara.

After filing a report with local authorities, Colapinto returned to his base in Monaco. Surprisingly, shortly after his arrival, he received a call from the Italian security services.

«We filed the police report and, when I got to Monaco, I received a call from an Italian number. They informed me that they had found my wallet with my documentation,» explained the driver. The incident forced him to return to Milan, where he traveled 1,200 kilometers in a single day to recover his stolen items.

Humorously, he added: «I don’t know what they did with my mate and the thermos. It was Messi’s thermos. The mate was fantastic. It was a horrible day, a real tragedy!».

Currently, Colapinto is in 12th position in the drivers’ championship, with a total of 19 points.
