Marc Marquez scored his fourth consecutive win in the Spanish Grand Prix. Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa joined him on the podium.

Four wins and 100 points for Marc Marquez so far this year. The current World Champion was unstoppable once again in Jerez, where he didn’t get any win in the championship until this point, and secures a perfect start to this season.

Marquez took the early lead of the race but Valentino Rossi overtook him in the first lap. Jorge Lorenzo had a difficult start but he could make a comeback and was third when Marquez took the first place back. Then, Marquez made a mistake and the two Yamaha riders passed them.

Marquez tried again and overtook the two Yamaha men for the lead. His teammate Dani Pedrosa was fourth, just behind Lorenzo. Marquez wanted to open a gap with his rivals, so he set the fastest lap and was half a second ahead of Rossi. Andrea Dovizioso, who was fifth, was far away from the top 4 positions.

Rossi tried to get closer to Marquez, but the championship leader was one a half second in front of the Italian. Meanwhile, Cal Crutchlow had to retire from the race due to issues in his bike. The problems for Ducati continued with Andrea Iannone suffering a crash, but he could rejoin the race.

With Marquez pulling away, the fight for the podium would be between Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedrosa. Lorenzo was faster than his teammate, but he didn’t try to make the move. Behind, Stefan Bradl was fighting with Bradley Smith for seventh, but the German rider went wide and lost two places.

Rossi decided to pull away from Lorenzo and Pedrosa and the fight for the last podium place would be between the Spaniards. Pedrosa didn’t want Rossi to open a gap and started to attack Lorenzo. For seventh place, Alvaro Bautista joined the battle and passed Smith while Bradl went wide again. In front of them, Aleix Espargaro was catching Dovizioso for the fifth position. Pol Espargaro was catching Bradl, who seem to have some kind of issue and was losing ground.

With 7 laps to go, Pedrosa decided to make the move on Lorenzo and passed him for third place. The Spaniard from Honda was determined to catch Rossi for second position and was half a second behind him a lap later. Aleix Espargaro was also trying to overtake Dovizioso for fifth, but Aleix made a mistake and Bautista passed him.

Pedrosa tried his best to get closer to Rossi and was all over him in the last lap, but Rossi tried to pull away from him. In the end, Marquez crossed the finish line in first place. Pedrosa tried the move in the main straight, but Rossi kept the second place. Lorenzo was fourth, with Dovizioso fifth followed closely by Bautista, Aleix Espargaro and Smith.
