The FIA has concluded its analysis on the Ferrari F1 power unit with regards to power boost through fuel as it announces improvements in better monitoring.

Several of its F1 rivals talked about the Ferrari power unit during the 2019 season, where fuel flow sensor played a center part. The governing body were forced to look into the matter, even though no formal complaint was made.

With the analysis now done and dusted, the FIA announced agreement of number of technical commitments to improve monitoring of F1 power unit in the coming championshp seasons, while not disclosing the details of the findings from the analysis.

The full statement from the FIA stated:

“The FIA announces that, after thorough technical investigations, it has concluded its analysis of the operation of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 Power Unit and reached a settlement with the team. The specifics of the agreement will remain between the parties.

The FIA and Scuderia Ferrari have agreed to a number of technical commitments that will improve the monitoring of all Formula 1 Power Units for forthcoming championship seasons as well as assist the FIA in other regulatory duties in Formula 1 and in its research activities on carbon emissions and sustainable fuels.”

The straightline speed of Ferrari seemed quite strong against its F1 rivals in 2019 and several technical directives were put out regarding what they can do and what they can’t when the talk started about an unfair advantage through the fuel flow sensor.

Ferrari denied about it consistently but co-incidently their results dropped around the technical directives – although it is unclear if they were cleverly using the sensor for gains. The FIA, thus, added a second sensor to combat the issue in 2020.
