This weekend, six drivers will have to divide their responsibilities between the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the GT World Challenge Europe (GTWCE) at an unexpected moment of overlap between both competitions.

The last round of the SRO Motorsports Group’s Endurance Cup Championship, held in Portimao, has been brought forward to allow key drivers competing in the WEC to travel between Spain and Portugal. The WEC races at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya have been reorganized to prioritize LMGT3 vehicles over Hypercars.

The drivers in the LMGT3 categories have been the most affected. Among the standout figures is Mattia Drudi, who will compete with the Heart of Racing Aston Martin and later will race with Comtoyou Racing, replacing driver Marco Sorensen.

The McLaren drivers, Thomas Fleming and Benjamin Goethe, will first race with their respective LMGT3 vehicles before flying to Portugal to share the #58. Driver Marvin Kirchhofer will not participate in the GTWCE, leaving a place for Jack Hawksworth.

Alongside BMW, Darren Leung must manage his participation between the #32 M4 in the WEC and the #991 in the SRO Bronze Cup.

Another notable figure is Peter Dempsey, who will switch vehicles between the #34 Corvette in Spain and the #93 Porsche in Portugal, with which he recently won the Sprint title in the Bronze Cup.

Additionally, Rui Andrade, a driver from the Iron Lynx-Mercedes team, has been called to participate in the GTWCE with the #19 AMG GT3.

The weekend is expected to be filled with intense activity, with several renowned drivers trying to balance the demands of both the WEC and the GTWCE. Fans can look forward to an exciting day of racing at both circuits.
