Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen completes the two-day Pirelli wet tyre test at Circuit Paul Ricard for 2020 F1 season.
The two-day test started on Tuesday at France’s Paul Ricard circuit with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s Pierre Gasly in action as they completed 219 laps in all on the artificially wet circuit to run the wet and intermediate compounds.
This is the first and the last test in 2019 where they will be running the wet and intermediate compounds to prepare for the 2020 F1 season. While Ferrari were to only run for the one day, Verstappen took over from Gasly in the Red Bull on Wednesday.
The Dutchman completed 90 laps to make it a grand total of 301 across the two days of running. This was the third test undertaken by Pirelli in 2019 so far, with the next one slated to be at Red Bull Ring after the Austrian GP on July 2-3.
Only Alfa Romeo Racing will be running in the fourth test though, where they will have the slick compound in use. Red Bull will be back testing for Pirelli at Britain’s Silverstone circuit after the British GP on July 16-17 along with Williams.
With Verstappen running the Pirelli test, the Dutchman couldn’t attend the funeral of Niki Lauda at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, Austria, where his boss Christian Horner and Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko were in attendance.
