On the eve of the event at Fuji, the JAF has revealed the provisional calendar for the 2027 season of Super GT. Among the most notable news is the return of the competition to Sepang, a circuit that was not present in the previous edition, and the reintegration of the legendary 1000 km of Suzuka as a special event for GT300 class vehicles.
The competition will begin, as usual, at the Okayama circuit, on the weekend of April 4. This race will be followed by the classic event at Fuji Speedway during the Japanese Golden Week, scheduled for May 4. In the third round, the championship will travel to Malaysia for the Sepang race, scheduled for June 19. The competition in Malaysia was canceled in 2026 due to rising energy and transport costs caused by the crisis in the Middle East.
The second half of the season also presents significant changes. The traditional summer race at Suzuka will be moved up to August 1, taking the place of a second event at Fuji. After a break during August, aimed at avoiding the extreme temperatures and humidity of the period, Super GT will compete in the 1000 km of Suzuka.
This iconic endurance event will return to the calendar for the first time since 2017 and will take place between September 3 and 5 as part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The race will be exclusively for GT300 vehicles, which will compete with the usual championship tires.
At the conclusion of the championship, the season will start with the Sugo race on September 19, followed by Autopolis on October 17. Another significant change is the relocation of the second event at Fuji, which will take place on November 7, becoming the penultimate round of the season. Finally, the Motegi race will be rescheduled for the weekend of November 21.
The calendar will be subject to final approval by the FIA and the Japan Automobile Federation, so it may undergo further changes to accommodate other international competitions.
