Newly announced Sauber Formula One test driver Sergey Sirotkin is the second driver to be announced in Fortec Motorsports Formula Renault 3.5 2014 squad. The 18-year-old arrives with a wealth of experience after having raced in FR3.5 in 2013.

Russian Sirotkin has had an impressive career so far winning the Formula Abarth European Series in 2011, followed by taking third in the Auto GP World Series in 2012. The Moscow native made the switch to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2013 and made his mark in the series taking two podium finishes.

A serious prospect for Formula One, Sirotkin impressed when the young driver tested for the team in Motorland, taking a top five performance over the two days.

Speaking about the season ahead and his new team Sergey said: “Let me firstly thanks all in Fortec for the great opportunity they offered to me. During the test run together in Spain, I had an immediate great feeling with all the people there. It was a difficult December, with many important decision for my career; now that the full program have been finalized, I am finally free to dedicate all my energies to the coming season.”

Fortec Team Manager, Jamie Dye, added: “We’re very happy that Sergey is joining us for the 2014 season, he’s been really impressive so far in testing and has the right attitude and attention to detail you need to succeed. Sergey is still young and very fast – he’s one to watch and we are really happy to have him as part of the team.”
