The 17 years old driver will switch teams from Carlin to Hitech GP, .after a sole win in Silverstone in the beginning of the season and a strong second place in the F3 Masters
Since Hitech is returning to F3 championship after some promising cameo appearances at the end of the 2015 season with veteran Alexander Sims, Russell had to test with the team as soon as the season ended, which led to a misunderstanding with Carlin. Indeed the latter thought he had already signed with Hitech GP so they dropped him off the Macau GP.
For his third year in single seaters, Russell will experience his first season as a non-rookie driver and as a serious title contender such as Lance Stroll, freshly announced as a part of the Williams young driver program, who will stay with Prema Powerteam for the 2016 campaign.
