The Spanish rider Raul Fernandez could stay with Trackhouse Aprilia for the 2027 MotoGP season. This possibility has surged after recent talks between the team owner, Justin Marks, and the rider.
The initial intention of Trackhouse was to keep Japanese rider Ai Ogura as a pillar, but after he decided to accept an offer from Yamaha, the team has decided to seek alternatives. Marks considered a total change in his rider lineup for the coming year.
To start, he has reached an agreement with Italian Enea Bastianini, who will leave the KTM team before June 30, unless the goal of extending his contract materializes. With Bastianini on the team, the search for a second rider has accelerated.
Fernandez has shown outstanding performance, including a victory in the sprints at Mugello, which has led Tracksouse to reconsider his situation with him. Currently, he is in talks to finalize an agreement that will keep him with the team for another season, hoping to conclude this negotiation over the weekend at the Brno circuit.
Additionally, the team has summoned Fernandez for Monday’s tests, where they will be able to use the 2027 bikes and tires. However, the rider, originally from Madrid, has been recovering from acute appendicitis, which has affected his energy levels ahead of the race.
Fernandez finished 10th in the GP of Czech Republic practice and has expressed doubts about his ability to complete the race: “Right now, I feel drained. More than achieving Q1 or Q2, I feel lucky to be on the bike.”
