The F1 driver Oscar Piastri, from the McLaren team, has underscored that mental training can be more crucial than physical training in his fight for the 2025 title. In his third year in Formula 1, Piastri has reflected on the impact of pressure and the importance of mental state on track performance.

During a Q&A session with fans, Piastri explained: “At an engineering level, we look for millimeters here and there to gain time. But if you are not in the right mental state, you can lose performance. Identifying when you are tired is key to your performance.”

Recalling his debut in the championship in 2023, Piastri shared that by the end of his first season he felt mentally exhausted. “I needed to disconnect a bit from racing to recharge”, said the 25-year-old driver, adding that this year he has focused on managing his energy better.

Despite feeling he has improved in his mental strength, Piastri acknowledges that there is still room for improvement. “There are aspects I can manage better, like talking to the team to reduce stress and optimize my potential to the fullest”, he concluded.
