After winning the teams’ and drivers’ titles in the 2013 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, the Tech 1 Racing squad is preparing for its new campaign in the World Series by Renault. Egor Orudzhev, the best rookie in 2013, will team up with two promising newcomers, Frenchman Anthoine Hubert and Vasily Romanov from Russia.

By racking up five victories in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup Tech 1 Racing imposed itself as the benchmark team of the 2013 season. Thanks to Pierre Gasly, who clinched the title in the last race, and his team-mates, Tech 1 Racing won its second teams’ title in the category with 132 points in hand over its nearest rival!

With two of its drivers moving up to Formula Renault 3.5, the Toulouse-based team played its role, namely: to train young hopefuls in motor sport. To continue in the same vein the drivers it has selected for 2014 stand out by their performance potential.

After a promising first season Russian Egor Orudzhev is continuing his career with Tech 1 Racing. The best 2013 rookie made constant progress culminating in a second place and a series of six point-scoring finishes in the latter part of the championship: he can now capitalise on his knowledge and raise his aims, which are to fight for the title.

Anthoine Hubert, 2013 French F4 Champion, has chosen the benchmark team to move up to Formula Renault 2.0. The driver from Chartres, who was a star in karts, is one of the most promising French coming men. During the tests in November and December he impressed the team with his capacity for work and his rigour.

The third driver entered by Tech 1 Racing is Vasily Romanov. The 17-year-old Russian showed his competitiveness in karts and he will be the other rookie in the team. After a hard-working winter his aim will be to make progress throughout the season like Orudzhev before him.

“We’re determined to defend our titles in 2014,” says Simon Abadie, the Tech 1 Racing team manager. “It’s obvious that Egor Orudzhev will take on the role of leader to follow in the footsteps of Pierre Gasly. Last year, he proved that he could combine speed and consistency. We’re going to provide him with the optimum conditions so that he’ll start fighting for victory right from the first race. Alongside him are two very promising rookies. Anthoine Hubert has already shown his talent in F4, and we’re convinced that he’ll move up another step in what is another very competitive formula. We reckon that he’ll be able to aim for a place in the top five overall. Vasily Romanov will have a lot more new things to take on board. He’ll have to do a lot of work to get to grips with the specific aspects of driving a single-seater and the new circuits. He’ll have to work very hard to progress, but his motivation makes us feel optimistic about his ability to score points.”

The drivers in the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS will be announced next week.
